What are the surgical risks of vaginal rejuvenation?
Risks of surgery are extremely rare and seen in less than 1% of cases. Complications may include infection, bleeding, hematoma, or prolonged healing.
What is recovery like after vaginal rejuvenation?
Most patients are up and about the afternoon of their surgery day*. The first three days are spent relaxing. Cold compresses or ice packs will help keep the swelling to a minimum. By 72 hours you may resume regular activities, making sure there is minimal friction to the labia*. Patients may return to work within 7 days as long as rigorous physical activity is avoided*. During the 6 week recovery there should be no intercourse or tampons use. Patients should avoid bath tubs/hot tubs or swimming in the lake or ocean.

When can I return to work after vaginal rejuvenation?
In general, returning to work is dependent on the type of work you do. Most patients can return within 7 days.
How soon may I have sex after surgery?
We ask that you abstain from sexual intercourse and masturbation for 6 weeks to ensure the best aesthetic and functional results.
Could I be a candidate for vaginal rejuvenation even if I’ve never experienced a vaginal delivery?
Absolutely. While childbirth is the most common cause of vaginal relaxation, it may also be the result of: aging, genetics, dramatic weight changes, chronic straining with constipation, chronic cough or activities such as weight lifting.
I am from out of town. How long before I can travel back home after my surgery?
If a patient wishes to pursue Vaginal Rejuvenation, she arrives the evening before surgery and should remain in the Minneapolis or Wayzata area for 24 hours after surgery. We will have you come into the office the morning of surgery for a preoperative appointment, your surgery will be completed that day and you will return to our office the following day for a postoperative visit.
How long will results last after vaginal rejuvenation?
The results of vaginal rejuvenation typically last for a lifetime, although it is normal for some progressive mild loosening of the vagina occurs immediately following surgery. Examples of things causing extreme looseness following vaginal rejuvenation surgery include delivering a baby, excess weight gain or obesity, chronic straining, or jobs that require frequent heavy lifting of greater than 20 pounds.
Will vaginal rejuvenation improve my sex life?
The purpose of vaginal rejuvenation is to tighten the vagina for increased friction resulting in greater stimulation during intercourse. A patient’s sex life can also be enhanced by her increased self-confidence and the resulting increased libido.
