Menopause vs. Perimonopause
A woman is considered to be in menopause when she has not had her period for about 1 year, marking the end of the childbearing years. Typically, menopause happens around age 50. Your body may be different. Some women stop having periods in their mid-40s while others continue well into their 50s.
Perimenopause is the course of change that leads up to menopause. It can start as early as late 30s or as late as one’s early 50s. This time is marked by irregular periods. Perimenopause can last from 2 to 8 years.
Menopause symptoms can range from mild to severe. Some symptoms can be so severe that they disrupt sleep and daily activity.

Treatment for Menopause
There are several treatment options available, both hormonal and non-hormonal, to help relieve the symptoms and conditions of menopause. Dr. Erhard examines and treats each patient based upon their specific symptoms. Complete hormone levels are assessed either with a blood test or salivary test. From the results of each test Dr. Erhard can find the right balance of treatment, including our very own Hormone Optimization™.
Not to worry. Menopause is a natural part of the aging process and you don’t need treatment unless you are experiencing symptoms that keep you from your regular routine. A visit with Dr. Erhard will answer all of your questions and give you valuable information on how you can manage your menopause. Knowing what to expect can help you stay as healthy and vibrant as possible.
